Counseling & Life Coaching Rates

I charge $120 per 50 minute session on a per-session basis. Because I know finding the right counselor or life coach can be a difficult process, I offer an initial 15 minute get-to-know-you session by phone or Skype at no cost

I also offer pre-paid "packaged sessions" at reduced rates:
  • Save $30 when you select four sessions up front
  • Save $70 when you select six sessions up front

These packages can be purchased (for future sessions) at any point during our work together.  They are simply designed to save you some money if it appears you will want to have more than two or three sessions with me.  On occasion, I offer discounted sessions for those unable to pay the full rate.  Please inquire for more information.

Payment is easy!  I accept most credit and debit cards through PayPal.

How Does Online Counseling Work?

It's easy.  Just follow these simple steps:
1. Email or call to set up the initial 15 minute consultation (it's FREE!).   Tell me your name and how to contact you.  I will get back to you, and we'll schedule your initial session.

2. I will call you via online provider at our scheduled time.  We will talk for 15 minutes so that you can get a feeling for how well you might connect with me and how you might feel about counseling.  You can tell me whatever you feel is important and ask me any questions.

3. We will schedule the next appointment if you'd like to continue working with me.  I will send you some information to complete so we can get started . . . and you can start feeling better!  If you decide not to continue, that's fine, too.
A Few Words about Insurance

I know many people use the "mental health" part of their insurance plans to see a counselor.  And I certainly understand that doing so can save money.

However, there are some drawbacks to using insurance you might want to know:

  • One of the primary concerns is a diagnosis.  In order for insurance companies to approve counseling and pay a mental health provider, an actual diagnosis of a "mental illness or disorder" must usually be given.  While for some clients, a diagnosis is appropriate and necessary, for some clients it is not.  There are many things to consider about receiving a diagnosis, not the least of which is how it could affect your ability to get additional insurance in the future.

  • Another concern is your privacy.  Insurance companies routinely audit files as part of their business practices.  Auditing a counselor's files usually means obtaining copies of the notes taken during sessions.  Some clients may be uncomfortable with this.

Though I have been on several insurance panels or "approved provider lists," I do not accept insurance.  Of course I encourage you to do whatever is best for you and your situationI simply think it's important for my clients and potential clients to be informed.
